Gautier Capuçon
is widely recognised as one of the foremost cellists of his generation, having received consistently high critical praise for his recordings and performances and earned various first prizes in leading international competitions, including the title “New Talent of the Year” by Victoires de la Musique and a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award. Born in Chambéry in 1981, G. Capuçon began playing the cello at the age of five. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris with Philippe Muller and Annie Cochet-Zakine, and later with Heinrich Schiff in Vienna. G. Capuçon performs regularly as a soloist with major orchestras worldwide, and is a favourite of conductors at the highest level, including Gergiev, Bychkov, Haitink, Eschenbach, Nézet-Seguin and Sir John Eliot Gardiner. In recent seasons he has toured and performed with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, Concertgebouw Orchestra, Tonhalle, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Sydney Symphony, Seoul Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony and New York Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as all of the major orchestras across France, receiving highest acclaim. A regular recital and chamber musician, G. Capuçon appears in the major halls and festivals across Europe, and every year at the Verbier Festival and at Project Martha Argerich, Lugano, performing with any of the world’s leading artists. In 2014/15 highlights include his debut recital at the Barbican Centre with Nicholas Angelich, a return to Wigmore Hall with Frank Braley, and recitals in Paris and Tokyo with Yuja Wang. In October 2014 he launched the “Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle” at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, which will invite selected students to Paris to work with G. Capuçon on a monthly basis in the foundation’s new Auditorium designed by Frank Gehry. G. Capuçon plays a 1701 Matteo Goffriller.

recognized as the leading Mexican conductor, is the Music Director of the YOA Orchestra of the Americas, the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Mexico, the country’s most important orchestra, and is currently in great demand as a guest conductor with many top North American and European orchestras. He is also the Music Director of the Louisiana Philharmonic and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería. Prieto is renowned for championing Latin American music and has conducted over 50 world premieres of works by Mexican and American composers. His recording of Korngold’s Violin Concerto has received two Grammy nominations.

YOA Orchestra of the Americas
is a world-class symphony orchestra of gifted young musicians, ages 18 to 30, representing 25 countries in the Western Hemisphere. Since the beginning in 2001 YOA’s mission has been to empower young musical leaders to transform lives across the Americas and beyond. YOA brings renowned artists - from Yo-Yo Ma to Valery Gergiev, from Plácido Domingo to Philip Glass - into the lives of young musicians, and diverse audiences. YOA has performed in settings that range from the most prestigious concert halls of Europe, China, and the Americas to outdoor venues not often associated with symphonic music. YOA has reached millions through live performances, television and radio broadcasts, CD recordings, print media, and documentary films. The season centerpiece is a July - August Residence and Concert Tour held each year in different regions of the world. Musicians, Faculty, Conductors, and Guest artists gather for a 2-week Residence of daily full orchestra and sectional rehearsals to prepare diverse and challenging repertoire to take on a month-long Tour. In 2016 the tour will be joined by musicians form the Baltic region. YOA is also organizing the Global Leaders Program which is an annual yearlong training course that supports the transformation of exceptional musicians into leading social entrepreneurs. The Program combines unique on-site leadership development in diverse international settings with a remote classroom curriculum guided by a world-class pioneering faculty. Participants grow simultaneously as cultural entrepreneurs, teaching artists, and performers. The impact of YOA stretches far and wide. Participants return to their native countries to share experiences and gained knowledge with their communities. YOA connects musicians to institutions of higher learning and professional job opportunities. YOA has served as the model for music education programs in Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Panama, Saint Lucia, the United States, and Uruguay.
