Beloved musicians Hedvig Hanson, Marek Talts, and Taavo Remmel invite listeners to a meditative moment accompanied by sensitive and beautiful music. At this concert, the three long-time friends will perform both secular and sacred pieces, supported by the church’s beautiful acoustics and solemn atmosphere. Hanson, whose voice and spirit are full of nuance, has over time turned increasingly inward, preferring quieter and more intimate concerts. She has been active as a musician for more than 30 years, released 16 albums, performed in various formations from duos to big bands, and achieved international recognition. Rather than follow the trend of modern technicality and external effects, Hanson has remained true to soulful and timeless music. Talts is a versatile guitarist, active in various ensembles and projects, with a musical focus on rhythm music and improvisation. Remmel is a highly regarded double bassist and music educator, performing with numerous jazz ensembles and orchestras, and is also a member of the early music group Hortus Musicus. Hanson, Talts, and Remmel first met in 2001 during the recording of Hanson’s first Estonian-language album “Tule mu juurde” ("Come to Me"). Now, 24 years later, they play together with a new depth of experience and maturity—interpreting music with profound insight. For Hanson, in today’s globalized world, preserving the Estonian language and spirit has become paramount. Thus, she sings texts by Estonian poets in her heartfelt style, both in original compositions and interpretations. Considering her trio partners’ Christian backgrounds, she has also chosen to perform some spiritual pieces. Their program “Arrival” was presented at the 2024 Christmas Jazz Festival, and this spring, Hanson’s original songs were recorded for the album “Everything Turns Into Song”, with the primary intention of seeking peace and silence through music—a natural, earthy sound combined with simple yet refined expression. Giving space to the listener. Valuing devotion. Celebrating life.
